Extended Hours are Soon Here Again (April 20 – April 30)

As Finals (and Finals ReCharge) approach, the M. Louis Salmon Library will once again have extended hours. From April 20 to April 30, the hours will be

  • Monday through Thursday: 7:30am to 2am
  • Friday: 7:30am to 10pm
  • Saturday: 9am to 6pm
  • Sunday: 1pm to 2am
The Library will immediately transition to interim hours on May 1 (7:30am – 6pm). These hours will be for the library as a whole. You can always follow up-to-date hours by checking http://libguides.uah.edu/hours (or look at the day’s hours on our homepage).

Charger Brew’s Library Location will also have extended hours the week of finals. The following dates for their extended hours are

  • Sunday, April 26: 2pm to 8pm
  • Monday, April 27: 10am to 10pm
  • Tuesday, April 28: 10am to 10pm
  • Wednesday, April 29: 10am to 10pm

Specific departments/desks, such as the Reference Desk, Special Collections, and the OIT Desk, will retain their regular hours during this time.

While the Student Success Center will be open from 8:15am to 5pm during Finals, they will be having a massive Tutoring Blitz on April 24, from 9a-5p, in the UC Exhibit Hall. See the slide below, or contact them for more information.

Extended Hours in the Library for Fall 2014 Finals

During Finals, many wish for just a few more hours in the day to squeeze in one more rewrite of a paper or to study one more chapter. And while the Salmon Library has very little power to add hours to the age-old day-night cycle, we can do our part and extend those existing hours of the day which we are open.

A 16 hour clock

From November 30, a Sunday, through December 9, a Tuesday, we will have extended hours. We will open on the normal times, but our closing times for those days are changed:

  • Sunday through Thursday: We’re open until 2am.
  • Friday: We’re open until 10pm.
  • We do not have extended hours on Saturdays.

The extended hours will include services such as the Info Arcade being open; printing, photocopying, and scanning; being able to check out study rooms and laptops; and of course the quiet study on the second and third floors.

As a note, as you are planning out your studying/writing/etc for Finals, the Student Success Center is now located in the Salmon Library, on the first floor, in the Charger Commons. If you need tutoring or writing help, they are a great resource!

Therapy Dogs rescheduled to April 30

As a part of the Finals ReCharge events at the Salmon Library at UAH, the therapy dogs (from the great folks at Therapy Partners, Inc.®) are returning to UAH on Wednesday, April 30.  They will be at the UAH Library from 11 AM till 1 PM.

therapy dogs(Please note that the therapy dogs were originally scheduled to be at the library on Tuesday; however, with the weather-related changes to the UAH exam schedule this week, we felt that more people would be able to see the therapy dogs on Wednesday.  Thus, their visit was rescheduled.)

Please stop by the Salmon Library between 11 and 1 on Wednesday to see them!

Feeling stressed about finals? Therapy Dogs are coming!

If finals have you all stressed out, go to the UC Lobby to spend some time relaxing with the dogs from Therapy Partners!  They will be here this Thursday, Dec. 1, from 11-1 in the UC Lobby.  Therapy Partners will be bringing their specially-trained dogs to help reduce anxiety and stress.
