Planned network outage this Sunday, Feb. 27, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

ITsolutions at UAHuntsville would like to inform you of a planned systems and network outage scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 27, 2011, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During this time, the UAHuntsville network will be unavailable. This will affect access to the Internet and campus systems such as Banner and ANGEL. Please plan accordingly.

You will be able to access your Google Apps account if you have network access from another source, but will need to use the following URL to do so: mail.google.com/a/uah.edu. (The URLs google.uah.edu or mail.uah.edu may not work during this time frame.)

Background Information
i.t.solutions is engaged in several projects to improve our campus technology infrastructure. One of these projects is a significant overhaul to the Data Center. We have reached a critical stage in this project where it is necessary to transition to new power services. Because this will involve electrical work followed by diagnostic testing, it will require a systems and network outage.

We realize that this may cause inconveniences and we apologize in advance; it was determined the time of least impact to the campus would be Sunday, February 27. Work will commence at 6 a.m. ITS is allowing for 8 hours to complete all associated work; therefore, network connectivity and all related systems should be restored no later than 2 p.m. While we do not anticipate any problems to occur, if something unexpected should happen we may experience a longer than planned outage.

Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we are working hard to improve services.
