Although the original Goldsmith Collection is housed in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C., the UAHuntsville Salmon Library has copies of the papers. They were given by Margaret Anne Goldsmith in the hopes that students could use them to gain an understanding of conditions in Germany during World War II. The letters and papers are from her grandfather and father Lawrence Goldsmith Sr. and Jr. You can find the collection in our Archives, located on the lower level of the Salmon Library. Congratulations to Alyson Buck on her paper, “In Your Holy Hands: One Woman’s Effort to Free Her Family From Nazi Oppression,” which was the 2011 winner of the John Rison Jones award for Southern History awarded by the Huntsville Madison County Historical Society. Alyson used the Goldsmith Collection here at the Salmon Library extensively in her research.
